Can a Man Get a Yeast Infection?
♫ Friday, March 9th, 2012Once we understand what causes a yeast infection, it is not shocking at all that men get them as well as women, children and even babies. In fact, premies are particularly at risk because their immune systems are not fully developed. Yeast infection in men is a widely searched term in Google so it tells you that men out there are wondering what the heck those painful red splotches are and why they have a milky discharge. Yeast infections don’t only show up on the genitals, however, and can present in the mouth, where it is usually known as thrush and even on the skin in dark, damp places like the armpits, under a woman’s breasts or the perianal region. No matter where it shows up as sympomatic, the truth is the cause is much deeper and goes to the internal health or dysfunction of the digestive tract. Normally our bodies live in harmony with the yeast called candida albicans but when our body gets upset, through stress, poor diet, overuse of alcohol, drugs, steroids or antibiotics, the yeast turns into a beast that devours everything in sight. It can even send out rhizoids that penetrate the intestinal wall causing Leaky Gut Syndrome which can be very dangerous as the toxic waste in the intestines leaks into the abdominal cavity.
